Alice in wonderland – H.W

أليس في بلاد العجائب، للويس كارول، هذا العمل الخالد الذي أنشأ أدب السخافة المعروف اليوم ليست مجرد قصة أطفال كتبها عالم رياضيات أراد أن يمتع بنات صديقه. بل من العكس من ذلك، هذه الرواية عبارة عن عالم خيالي كبير يطفح بمشاكل العصر الفيكتوري ويحلل الكثير من مساوئه وسلبياته بطريقة خفية غريبة.

واجبنا لهذا الأسبوع كان عبارة عن كتابة مقال لا يتعدى ٣٢٠ كلمة عن هذا الكتاب، أو عن الكتاب الآخر الذي كتبه كارول بعد سنتين “ من خلال الزجاج العاكس” through the looking glass “ ..

من ناحيتي، فقد كُدت أن أفوت الواجب ولا أحله! لم أتذكر المقال إلا بعد أن بقي أربع ساعات على تسليمه وكُنت عائده من الكلية مرهقة متعبه بالكاد أفتح عيني، لأتذكر فجأة تسليم الواجب وأهرع لأتجرع كؤس الشاي وأفتح الرواية لأقرأها من جديد وأكتب ما أستطيع عليه xD

قراري الحاسم بكتابة الواجب مهما كان سيئاً أو غير مترابط سيفيدني بالمستقبل وأنا واثقة تماماً من ذلك، فكتابتي باللغة الإنجليزية ضعيفة جداً، ولن تتطور إلا إن كسرت حاجز الخوف والخجل وبدأت أمرنها “غصباً أو طوعاً “ ; P

Alice In Wonderland 

“I wonder if I’ve been changed in the night. Let me think. Was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if I’m not the same, the next question is ‘Who in the world am I?’ Ah, that’s the great puzzle!”. With the previous quotation we can draw a clear idea about one of the themes Carroll injected in his works, the idea of ” Who I Am?”.

Throughout the novel, Alice was struggling to find a steady base to define herself into, or to find a group that she can merges in. She is confused, anxious and wary of herself that she doesn’t know, she is also was searching the wrong place to find the “me” inside her. Alice is an example of the individuals whom found themselves in an exploding world of change and the mind-blowing inventions. The rapid grow of industry was way faster than the grow of the individual understanding of the world and acceptances. This quickness in the world leads them into a state of lostness and self solitude. Alice was trying to measure herself into the situations she finds, but always fail to fit herself in any one of them, to conclude in one of the lines that she “do not know herself” or weather she is Alice or not. The remarkable point is that Alice didn’t stray in this state, she decided to go along the stream and to built a “Me” only exlucive to her, and her alone.

Thus Alice summarized the experiences and the uneasiness she felt before for not known what she was to a single sentence: “I can’t go back to yesterday because I was a different person then”. Alice is an example of the Victorian Age individuals, though Amazed by the rapid growth of the world, they were lost in it.
